Held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the borough's York Road business district, the event will feature:

  • Live Music
  • John Alberto is back by popular demand! He will be playing his usual great selection of classic rock, blues and jazz - 10 AM to 3 PM at McMackin Tire.
  • A "Celebrity" Dunk Tank
  • Bingo
  • Buttons The Clown and the McDonald's Hamburglar
  • Free Zumba class
  • Free Trolley Rides
  • Crafts and Carnival Games For The Kids

Artists And Crafters will join merchants in filling the sidewalks along York Road, and on a number of side streets, with their wares.

The Pet Rescue Fair, sponsored by A Dog's Life (and a Cat's Too!) pet boutique in Hatboro, will be held at Hatboro Baptist Church, 32 N. York Road, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A variety of rescue groups including those working with beagles, Australian shepherds, golden retrievers, collies, Siberian huskies, corgis, Labradors and rabbits will be on site, offering pets for adoption (pending background checks and the appropriate paperwork). Also on site will be a variety of vendors for the pet enthusiast, as well as an animal communicator, a pet photographer, a caricaturist and a microchip clinic. Homemade treats will be available for purchase. For additional information about the Pet Rescue Fair, visit www.hatboropetrescuefair.com.

From noon to 2:30 p.m., Elwood, the 2007 winner of the "World's Ugliest Dog" title will visit the Pet Rescue Fair. Attendees can get their photos taken with Elwood and purchase a signed copy of his book, "Everyone Loves Elwood!" Proceeds will benefit homeless animals. Elwood, a Chinese Crested and Chihuahua mix from Sewell, N.J., captured the title in a contest in Petaluma, Calif., earning media attention across the world and interviews on Weekend Today, CNN, The View, The 10 Morning Show and Brazilian T.V.

Spared from death after his breeder thought he was "too ugly to sell," Elwood now serves as a "goodwill ambassador" for homeless animals and those with special needs, bringing his message of love and acceptance to venues across the country, according to his companion, Karen Quigley.

Free Trolley Rides! Visitors to the Hatboro Sidewalk Sale, Craft Fair & Pet Rescue can travel from one end of town to the other via a trolley car sponsored by Hatboro Federal Savings. Trolley stops along York Road, from the Loller Building at the south end of town to Dunkin' Donuts at the north, will be marked with red "Trolley Stop" signs.

The 10th annual event is being co-chaired by Elaine Boyle, secretary of the chamber's executive board of directors and Abington Bank assistant vice president/Hatboro branch manager, and Al Chagan, chamber vice president, Retail Merchants Division, and CFO of Impact Thrift Stores, Inc.
