First Friday Hatboro Celebrates July 4th a Day Early
with "Sidewalk Parade" for People And Pets plus a Barbeque

Last year’s “Sidewalk Parade” on July 4 drew about 100 people.

First Friday Hatboro will get a jump on the Fourth of July the day before with an old fashioned "sidewalk parade" for people and pets and a "barbeque showcase."

Visitors to downtown Hatboro for First Friday festivities July 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. are invited to don their patriotic finery and dress up their pets for a SIDEWALK PARADE through the center of town. Participants are asked to gather at 6 p.m. at A Dog's Life (and a Cat's Too!) pet boutique, 109 N. York Road, for a brief opening ceremony, including the singing of the National Anthem. They'll be treated to free soft drinks from the McDonald's restaurant next door and a visit by "The Hamburglar."

AT 6:30 P.M., THE PARADE HEADS SOUTH, crossing York Road at the pedestrian crosswalk at Williams Lane, then will proceed north, crossing York Road at Moreland Avenue and arriving at McMackin Tire and Auto Center to sample water ice courtesy of Scoops Ice Cream Parlor of Hatboro. The Kidz Klub, an interactive toy store in Hatboro, which is partnering with A Dog's Life and the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Committee to present the parade, will offer TRIVIA GAMES FOR THE KIDS, as well as PATRIOTIC BALLOON SCULPTURES by "JOSHUA." Making an appearance at McMackin's, as well, will be THE CHICK-FIL-A COW.

This is the second year First Friday has presented the sidewalk parade. It was launched last year when First Friday fell on the Fourth of July. More than 100 people participated.

Hatboro Baptist Church, 32 N. York Road, will get an early start on First Friday activities by opening its outdoor "Heavenly Brew Café" at 3 p.m. with a performance by FREDDIE FISH & THE LOAVES. Members of the congregation - and the band - will be offering samples of their BARBEQUE SPECIALTIES to anyone stopping by until about 7 p.m. when CHRIS STEIN will lend his acoustic sound to a worship and praise session. Heavenly Brew Café events are free and open to the public, though free will donations are welcomed. The café offers FAIR TRADE COFFEE, SNACKS, AND SODAS.

First Friday Hatboro, which operates under the auspices of the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, is a celebration of the arts hosted by the merchants and service providers in downtown Hatboro the first Friday of every month, rain or shine.
